Free Checking Account with Credit Card in Germany
I have just looked through my records and discovered that I have been a customer of ING Bank for exactly 11 years, 2 months and 2 days. At that time, however, this was still called ING DiBa. There is of course a reason why I have been with this bank for so long. I am completely satisfied !!!
Before I was at the ING, I had my salary account at a small bank in Bremen called Bankhaus Neelmeyer. About the Bankhaus Neelmeyer I can only report bad things, which I will probably do in another article soon. But this time I am talking about the ING Bank.
What makes the ING Bank so special
Both then, 11 years ago, and now, there is a Visa card linked to the account in addition to the free checking account. It is actually not a credit card, since the expenses are immediately debited from the account. With a credit card, the expenses are first debited from the card account, which causes a debit on which interest is usually due. This is not the case with the Visa card of ING.
However, it is also not a debit card. Debit cards must first be loaded with money and are generally not accepted as often as credit cards.
So you get a fully functional credit card.
Furthermore, the current account is free of charge. Nowadays there are many banks that offer free checking accounts, but 11 years ago the number of free accounts was not so big.
And if you are satisfied with your bank, why should you change?
Withdraw money for free with the ING Visa card.
The best thing about the ING Visa card is that I can use it to withdraw cash free of charge from any ATM throughout Europe.
You are reading it right here. It doesn’t matter from which bank or company the ATM where you withdraw money is, it’s free.
I know this from friends only too well. When the cash runs out, you have to go to the right bank. But if your bank is not nearby, you just take another ATM and quickly pay €5 withdrawal fees. The ING does not have these fees throughout Europe.
I also share a second account with my wife at the DKB, which we use to debit all our household expenses. The account at DKB is also free of charge and there is also a free Visa card. But I don’t like the online banking at DKB. That’s why I always use my ING Visa card and can only warmly recommend the ING checking account.
I was just about to use my new Ruby Steel MCO Visa Card more than my ING card because of the cash back function, but unfortunately the card is not working anymore due to the Wirecard fiasco.
